BIG BOLD FUTURES Scholarship Honoring Bob Yaklin

The Big Bold Futures Scholarship honors Robert (Bob) Yaklin, awarded annually to a high school student who embodies his values of family, connection, generosity, and service. Presented by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County, the scholarship recognizes a High School Big who empowers local youth to pursue their futures. Bob Yaklin, a dedicated mentor since 1963, supported six Little Brothers through activities and experiences, and remained involved for over two decades by providing financial aid and participating in events, ensuring continued opportunities for youth.

Reta Stanley/Gary Haggart Legacy Scholarship

The Reta Stanley/Gary Haggart Legacy Scholarship was created by the Gary Haggart Club to honor Reta Stanley’s retirement from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County in January 2022. It celebrates their dedication to philanthropy and community service, particularly in fostering one-to-one mentoring relationships for youth. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a high school student involved as a Little in the mentoring program, reflecting Mrs. Stanley’s belief in mentorship’s transformative power and its role in helping young people graduate and pursue higher education.
